Our highly respected Public Sector client is looking to recruit a Systems Administrator to install, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor, maintain, and consolidate the diverse range of server operating systems (primarily Linux), systems software and hardware, the array of applications that form part of the department’s IT operations in support of the security, compliance and requirements of the organisation. The role is a 5-month contract on-site based in Glasgow.
Your new role
Install and manage server hardware and related equipment.
Install, configure, update, backup and maintain Servers and applications.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance of infrastructure.
Provide advanced technical support within and outside the department.
Execute configuration and administration tasks, including Scripting and rack moves.
Plan and implement changes to address security vulnerabilities, with proper consultation and care.
Investigate and resolve network and service issues.
Configure, test, monitor and maintain backup and monitoring systems for Servers and applications.
Tune system performance as needed for optimal performance or security.
Write and maintain operational documentation and share it as appropriate.
Communicate and liaise with the organisation, users, consultants or suppliers as needed.
