This is a key role in the growth and development of the Offshore Wind Project (project). Reporting to the Commercial Director and Project Director, the Legal Counsel will offer legal and commercial support relating to the development and consenting of the project from a legal perspective, as well as providing advice on engineering and design contracts and analysis of complex and legal commercial issues arising from contract negotiations. The Legal Counsel will advise on relevant regulatory and corporate affairs and procure, manage and review external legal advice.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal support in tendering, drafting and negotiating service and contract agreements for the Project
  • Drafting and negotiating different types of commercial contracts (such as supplier contracts, cooperation agreements, MoUs, early engagement contracts with new partners, etc.).
  • Giving legal support on consenting, regulatory and environmental matters in relation with the development of the Project.

Profile

  • Scots or English law qualified solicitor
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • In-house legal experience in Renewables
  • You may have experience in real estate, corporate, corporate finance, regulatory, construction or projects practice areas.
  • You will have experience of working on renewable energy projects, in particular in offshore wind. Land and property experience is highly desirable. An understanding of TSAs and BoP contracts would be beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, negotiating and contract drafting skills.
