We have recently set up the GCOO Controls Office within Risk Services, which will improve control design and end-to-end view of the control environment across the GCOO division. Within the Controls Office, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Controls by Design Team. The team will provide a control by design and business process re-engineering service to ensure the GCOO control environment has the right control designed in the most effective and efficient way possible.
Location:
The role requires you to be in one of these hub locations at least 2 days per week: London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Halifax, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
What would you be getting involved with?
Define and maintain divisional standards for control by design, supporting control owners to think in new ways and adopt new guidance
Provides clear guidance on what a ‘poor quality’ control looks like or where controls are not ‘fit for purpose’
Sets the divisional approach to control metadata and aligns with the relevant enterprise Risk and Control framework
Provides a view of minimum control attributes and fields that need to be compiled when documenting a control in different tools
Develops and supports delivery of identifying cost of control across the division and ways to measure this
Through analysis of MI and controls data, provide inputs and insight into senior risk and governance committees taking ownership of subsequent actions
Works across the Control by Design team to ensure awareness of and identify opportunities of collaboration
Collaborate with senior managers across the three Lines of Defence (e.g. Group Risk, Internal Audit) to identify, share and implement standard methodologies across the organisation

And the skills/background you’d possess?
Have good knowledge of control frameworks associated with both traditional and new emerging technologies, cloud, cyber and change
Experience with business process re-engineering and design thinking, understanding the benefits of using these approaches
Strong understanding of innovative approaches of using technology, data and automation to enhance control environments.
Have broad knowledge of common industry control frameworks (COBIT, NIST, CSA CCM etc.) and regulatory requirements (SOX etc.)
Excellent communication skills with a track record of engagement with colleagues at all levels
Risk management experience in financial services sector, fintech sector or technology sector with understanding of operating in a regulated environment
